The heart of traditional American values is faith in God. In America, all religions are accepted by the fact that Judeo-Christian faith accepts all other religions to our nation. This is America’s identity, academically conforming to rules and traditions. This is a fact that on a street corner, one may find a Christian church across from a Jewish synagogue, or an Islam mosque or a Buddhist Temple. Only in America can one find and practice one’s faith without prejudice or malice. This is what makes America America. Religious freedom is why the people of other nations originally came to America.
The main idea behind “My Solemn Pledge” is that of traditional American values. This is what our nation as a whole must return to. This must be rediscovered by the newly reformed conservative Republican Party.
I would highly recommend that my readers take a look at the article “What Do They Mean by Traditional Values?” by Dr. Dale A. Robbins. This article represents the foundation for traditional values that would be in the pledge—the heart of traditional values being faith in God, prayer, and the Bible. Their absence will lead to our nation’s decline. Just as the Roman Empire fell from within, so will America fall to liberal and socialistic views that are creeping into our government. America is following the path of the Roman Empire. (6. Robbins 1990)
No one has a right to remove God from government or other religions. Liberals are in the habit of removing God from the Judeo-Christian tradition of America by not accepting crosses, by proclaiming that practicing one’s faith openly takes away the rights of all religions.
America is losing its uniqueness that has always combined secular government with a society based on religious values and freedom for all. (7. Prager 2004) To put this simply, liberals who replace God with government are tearing at our nation’s heritage.
One final note: Islam is a true religion and Muslims follow a faith of peace, mercy, and forgiveness. The majority of them has nothing to do with the extremely grave events that have become associated with their religion. (8. Understanding Islam)
