Privatization must take place over a very short time so that our nation can pay off its national debt. The USPS is not enough by itself, but it is a much-needed start.* To do this, it will be up to conservative Americans going to the polling booths and voting with more than 80 percent to privatize the USPS, and then other programs and entitlements. Americans will be sending a clear and conclusive verdict to Congress to sell off the USPS from government’s involvement.
So what will take place? There will be absolutely no more wasted tax dollars going to a tired, old industry. UPS, FedEx, and others will be given the opportunity to purchase the USPS. If even giving the USPS away means saving several billion dollars every year of the taxpayers’ monies, then I say, why not—thus eliminating the tax burden to the public. The removal of the system will remove high-paying salaries of executives within the “Thin Layer”**, while still keeping the employees. The Thin Layer’s effects on the USPS follow.
A brief explanation of the “Thin Layer” is that government hires large numbers of individuals and groups that look at the many programs between government and public (entitlements) and private enterprises. These employed workers are made up of lobbyists, unions, accountants, researchers, lawyers, and others at their executive levels who then hire secretaries and office workers to maintain their small forces between government and the people. Yet, they are neither government, nor the actual business––the USPS employees. Note: They produce nothing substantial in the way of manufacturing, yet they get their pay directly from the American people’s taxes.
The “Thin Layer,” this small elite force, can be found working to keep the rules and regulations for the USPS alive, but not well. This is the high-paying unseen group that takes away the money from the taxpayer; therefore, it, too, needs to be removed.
It is now time to privatize most, if not all, government-run entities. Why? Because it reduces the inefficiencies of government-run programs by Congress and, at the same time, reduces the tax burden upon our nation. No entitlements mean no taxing of Americans.
Conservatives need to attack the problems of government-run programs from all sides. Privatization reduces the size and scope of government. This will help keep better records for when the “Balanced Budget Amendment” is in place. Balancing the budget will help to further show where America’s monies are going.
